'India eternally grateful': PM Modi after meeting IAF jawans at Adampur air base- See video

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday visited Adampur Air Base, where he interacted with the air force personnel days after India launched Operation Sindoor. "Earlier this morning, I went to AFS Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation," PM Modi said in a post on X.In the video, PM Modi and other members of the Armed Forces were seen chanting, 'Vande Mataram' and 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'The visit followed PM Modi's first national address since Operation Sindoor, where he dedicated the military action "to every mother and sister of our country." The Prime Minister affirmed that India would not be deterred by nuclear threats and that no terror-supporting territory was beyond the reach of Indian forces.Adampur air base, which played a crucial role in Operation Sindoor, was among several military installations that Pakistan reportedly attempted to target last week. Defense officials confirmed that Pakistani forces tried to strike key locations including Adampur, Bhatinda, and Chandigarh, but all attempts were successfully thwarted by India's integrated air defense systems.India initiated Operation Sindoor on May 7, striking nine terrorist installations across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir after 26 people, including 25 tourists and a Nepali, were killed when terrorists opened fire in the Baisaran meadow, which is around six kilometres from Pahalgam town. The horrific incident is the deadliest attack in the Kashmir Valley since the Pulwama carnage in 2019.Following several days of confrontation along the Line of Control (LoC), both nations agreed to a ceasefire on May 10. India clarified its position, stating that whilst military operations would cease, there would be no diplomatic discussions with Islamabad.After the ceasefire, the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMO) of India and Pakistan held talks on Monday where they decided to continue the ceasefire and avoid initiating any "aggressive and inimical action against each other"."Talks between DGMOs (of India and Pakistan) were held at 5pm, May 12, 2025.
