Matt Bomer Slams Media for Twisting His Words on Superman and His Sexuality

Matt Bomer Slams Media for Twisting His Words on Superman and His Sexuality
Matt Bomer, well known for his roles in ‘White Collar’ and ‘The Normal Heart’, recently criticised and called out a news outlet for misinterpreting his statements in a recent interview regarding his role as ‘Superman’ and the rejection that came with it.
As the actor actively promotes his latest endeavour titled ‘Mid-Century Modern’, a news outlet allegedly spun his comments out of context and labelled his sexuality, i.e., his outing as a ‘painful turn of events’ which ‘lost him the title role’ in the DC feature film. This occurred after he recently sat for an interview and discussed his role in ‘Superman: Man of Steel’ and being replaced by actor Henry Cavill.
In a deleted X (formerly Twitter) post, the actor criticised the publication for labelling his sexuality in such a way and said, ‘You know I love you. This conversation had nothing to do with Superman, so please stop painting me into a victim narrative for your clickbait. I love my career and wouldn’t change a thing about it. The conversation we had was about a lack of journalistic integrity, and now you’ve done the same thing. Please do better. I wish you the best always, Matt.’
As quoted by Deadline, the actor talked about journalistic integrity and ethics in the interview and was also asked about whether the hiring changes of the studio were dependent on his sexuality. He replied by stating that “Yeah, that’s my understanding. That was a time in the industry when something like that could still really be weaponised against you. How and why and who, I don’t know, but yeah, that’s my understanding.”
Matt Bomer also discussed his latest role in the series ‘Mid-Century Modern’ in an interview last week, where he expressed his liking for playing the character, stating that it is a liberating experience for him to play such a role without any shame. The actor came out publicly in 2012 during an award ceremony while thanking his husband and children during a speech.
