Sunita Ahuja hints at unseen strain in marriage with Govinda amid divorce rumours: ‘Pata nahi kis ki nazar lag gayi'
Speculation around Govinda and Sunita Ahuja’s marriage has been doing the rounds for a while, but now, Sunita herself has addressed the whispers, this time with a mix of emotion and strength. In a recent chat with Deccan Talks With Asif, Sunita reflected on her relationship with the Raja Babu actor, hinting at challenges in their journey while firmly expressing her love and loyalty.
Sunita Ahuja opens up about her bond with Govinda
Looking back on how their relationship began, Sunita revealed she was only 15 when she fell in love with Govinda and stood firm in her choice despite her father’s disapproval. “He never wanted me to marry Govinda. He didn’t even come to my wedding,” she shared. Her father, wary of the film world, had hoped she would marry someone outside the industry. “He knew what goes around in the film industry, he wanted me to marry a businessman. He had even selected a boy for me in Holland but mera pyaar sacha tha,” she said. “That childhood love is like that, we both loved each other a lot.”
Speaking about their current equation, Sunita hinted at an unseen strain in their bond. “Pata nahi kis ki nazar lag gayi,” she said light-heartedly, before adding with determination, “I won’t let anyone take my husband away from me.”
Sunita Ahuja reveals Govinda's mother's role in their marriage
She also gave credit to her mother-in-law for playing a pivotal role in their marriage. “When I got married to Govinda, he lived with his big family but I loved him. Even now, I am living at Govinda’s home because of my mother-in-law. She wanted us to get married,” Sunita said, recalling the words that have stuck with her: “She had told him, ‘Chichi, if you leave Sunita, tu bhikhari ban jayega.’ I remember this dialogue.”
In a separate interaction with Hauterfly, Sunita had previously acknowledged the ups and downs they’ve faced in their 40-year marriage, especially when it comes to trust. Offering advice to other women, she said, “Don’t ever say that your partner is innocent (doesn’t cheat). If he does it, it will become so bad and no matter how hard you try to get rid of the other woman, she won’t leave him for years.” Referring to her own experience, she added, “Now, it has been 40 years. When it happened, then I endured it.”
