Kaun Banega Crorepati 16: Young entrepreneur Jheelkumar Bharodiya sells sanitary pads at affordable rates to help middle-class families; earns host Amitabh Bachchan's praise
The latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 started with host Amitabh Bachchan conducting the Fastest Finger First round and Jheelkumar Bharodiya from Surat, made it to the host seat. Jheelkumar is an IIM, Bengaluru student and entrepreneur. Mr Bachchan reveals Jheelkumar started his business when he was just 17 years old. A short video is played on Jheelkumar's life wherein he reveals that he has done three businesses so far. He started his entrepreneurial journey with his father's diamond business and then he moved to textiles and then making sanitary pads. The contestant wants to help his family and cover his education expenses by being on Kaun Banega Crorepati 16. He cleared his IIM entrance exam in first attempt.
Big B starts the game and Jheekkumar manages to answer the first five questions correctly and reaches the Rs 10,000 mark. He faces the question for Super Sawaal. Who is the captain of the Indian men's T20 side? Jheelkumar answers 'Hardik Pandya' but the correct answer is 'Suryakumar Yadav'. The contestant fails to get the superpower 'Dugnastraa'.
Host Amitabh Bachchan asks Jheelkumar about the lessons he learned from his first textile business. The contestant shares that he realized the importance of having a strong personality. Initially, he would meet clients without paying much attention to his appearance, but he soon noticed that people didn’t take him seriously due to his youthful look. This led him to focus on his dressing, grooming, and footwear to create a better impression.
Jheelkumar then highlights the sharp mindset of Indian consumers in the apparel industry, noting that the return ratio is quite high, as many people tend to return clothes after wearing them. Pointing towards the studio audience, he playfully remarks that many of them, despite clapping now, must have done it at least once. His humorous take on the topic leaves host Amitabh Bachchan in fits of laughter. Once his textile business was established, Jheelkumar ventured into the sanitary pads industry, which turned out to be a success. He emphasized that their brand sells cotton sanitary pads at more affordable prices compared to other brands in the market. Their goal was to ensure that even middle-class families have access to high-quality sanitary products. He thoroughly enjoyed running the business and shared that he has managed multiple ventures over time. Offering advice to young entrepreneurs, he emphasized the importance of understanding the fine line between aspiration and desperation.
Jheelkumar humorously recalls that his first day at the IIM campus was nothing short of traumatizing as seniors introduced him to the institute’s culture. He admits that he initially believed landing a spot at IIM meant companies would be lining up with job offers. However, he quickly realized that the real struggle begins only after securing admission, as the journey ahead demands immense hard work and dedication. He further shares that he likes to party and makes gestures that he doesn't booze. Big B pulls his leg and asks him about his gestures and the contestant jokes that he was talking about things he doesn't get in Gujarat (as it is a dry state). Mr Bachchan takes a dig at him and says, "Isiliye aap IIM Bengaluru aaye." Jheelkumar reveals he enters parties after 3 am and gets to hear all the gossip. Host Amitabh Bachchan finds Jheelkumar's conversations interesting and very witty.
The contestant gets stuck at the question for Rs 1,60,000. Both, Sabarmati river and Banas river originate in which mountain range? He takes the help of 'Audience Poll' lifeline. He selects Option C) Aravali and wins the amount.
Jheelkumar comfortably answers the next question for Rs 3,20,000 and informs Mr Bachchan that he would give the amount to his father as his diamond business is experiencing losses due to demand for synthetic diamonds. Big B applauds Jheelkumar's gesture towards his parents.
The contestant next plays the Super Sandook round and answers six questions correctly and earns Rs 60,000. He decides to revive his 'Ask the Audience' lifeline with the amount. Jheelkumar reveals that since the Super Sandook round had 10 questions, he has decided to give sanitary pads to 10 women for lifelong free of cost and also sponsor their education. Big B applauds Jheelkumar's initiative and says 'Sir aap dhanda bahot accha karte hain."
Jheelkumar took home Rs 25,00,000 as he could not answer the Rs 50,00,000 question.
