'Australia had been stung by criticism after Perth Test': Adam Gilchrist hails 'aggressive' Pat Cummins in Adelaide

Adam Gilchrist commended Australia's strong performance in the second Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test. He credited Pat Cummins' leadership and the team's aggressive approach for their comeback after a huge loss in the first Test. Australia won the second Test in Adelaide by 10 wickets, leveling the series 1-1.

Gilchrist, speaking on Fox Cricket, highlighted the noticeable intensity in Cummins' captaincy.
"You could see just through his celebrations that… every wicket that he took, he was more aggressive in his celebration. Not in that lose-control extent, but you could tell they’d been stung by criticism after their performance in Perth," he remarked.
He noted Cummins' renewed energy and focus, saying: "He looked like if there needed a bit of a grease and oil change after Perth and a tune-up, he was purring by the end of it. That was terrific to watch."

Australia's fast bowlers, Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Scott Boland, played a crucial role. They took all 20 Indian wickets. Spinner Nathan Lyon and all-rounder Mitch Marsh bowled only one and four overs, respectively.
Gilchrist praised the collective effort of the pace attack.
"They were just a unit," Gilchrist said of the bowling attack. "The big three - Starc, Boland, Cummins - hunted as a pack and bowled as a unit, and that was really fun to watch."
The victory was significant for Australia, demonstrating a return to their desired playing standards after a disappointing performance in the first Test.
"They internally would have been so disappointed with the way they played in Perth. This showed you what it meant to them, and they knew they were back at the level they want to play their cricket," he added.
