Virat Kohli has expressed his desire to win the 2027 ODI World Cup, indicating he plans to continue playing in the 50-over format. The 36-year-old batter, who already holds multiple ICC trophies, made this revelation during a recent event while discussing his future career goals.
Kohli's impressive trophy collection includes the 2011 ODI World Cup,
Champions Trophy victories in 2013 and 2025, and the 2024 T20 World Cup.

In the 2023 ODI World Cup, India reached the final but lost to Australia. Kohli's exceptional performance earned him the Player of the Tournament award, scoring 765 runs in 11 matches at an average of 95.62.
India's recent Champions Trophy victory has potentially paved the way for both Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma to extend their careers until the 2027 World Cup. Sharma will be 40 years old when the tournament begins.
Speaking before IPL 2025, Kohli addressed retirement speculation. "Don't get nervous. I'm not making any announcements. As of now, everything is fine. I still love playing the game," he stated at the RCB Innovation Lab conclave.

He further elaborated on his motivation to continue playing: "It pretty much comes down to just the pure joy, enjoyment, competitive streak and love for the game. And as long as that is there, I will continue to play. As I said, I am not playing for any achievement."
