Ex MLB star Rafael Furcal arrested in Florida over felony charges

Former MLB shortstop Rafael Furcal is facing serious criminal charges in South Florida. Furcal had turned himself in to the Broward County jail on Wednesday and was released soon after on bail.

What happened to Rafael Furcal?

The case pertains only to former MLB player Rafael Furcal, who was charged with aggravated battery using a deadly weapon and for throwing an object (called a "missile" in legal terms) into a public or private building or vehicle. As per the laws, these are felony charges, which means they are very serious. As per ESPN, the court records have shown there is a lawyer representing Furcal yet. However, Furcal’s former agent, Paul Kinzer, said he had no comment and did not give a way to contact Furcal, ESPN reported.
As per the Sunrise Police, who have issued an arrest warrant for Rafael Furcal on Monday, but the police unit has not shared details about what caused the charges. Furcal told reporter Tenchy Rodriguez that he threw a rock at a truck after the driver attacked him with a knife. The charges against him are reportedly under investigation after Furcal explained to police what happened.

Furcal is 47 years old now, and he has played in Major League Baseball, with his career beginning n 2000 with the Atlanta Braves. He later played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals. He also won a World Series with the Cardinals in 2011. Furcal ended his career with the Miami Marlins in 2014. One of his most famous plays was in 2003, when he made a rare unassisted triple play while playing for the Braves against the Cardinals.He missed all of 2013 due to Tommy John surgery. He spent 21 days in jail after the second arrest for breaking his probation. Now, authorities are reviewing this new incident carefully.
