Pat Connaughton’s path is pretty special, going from hurling baseballs to closing real estate deals. With a $428,000 signing bonus from the MLB, the Milwaukee Bucks star took a big risk that changed everything for him. In just seven years, he’s managed to create a $550 million real estate portfolio. What started as a calculated move has turned into a successful venture that’s benefiting communities.

Pat Connaughton’s Journey from Dual-Sport Athlete to Real Estate Entrepreneur

Pat Connaughton showcased his impressive dual-sport abilities at Notre Dame, excelling in both basketball and baseball. In 2014, he was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the fourth round of the MLB Draft, receiving a signing bonus of $428,000. Rather than blowing that money on luxuries, he smartly invested it in real estate near his college, paving the way for his plans.

Pat Connaughton made a quick switch from baseball to basketball, landing with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2018 to kick off his NBA journey. Alongside that, he started Three Leaf Partners, a real estate firm based in Milwaukee.

Their focus is on a range of projects, including multi-family and mixed-use developments, to enhance communities through thoughtful real estate practices.

Under Connaughton's guidance, Three Leaf Partners has really taken off. The firm has snagged industrial properties totaling around 700,000 square feet and has been involved in several development projects.
A couple of standout projects are a $92 million development in Hartland with 267 apartments and a $70 million project in West Allis that includes 247 apartments.
They also launched a $17 million building with 55 apartments near Downer Avenue in Milwaukee and received approvals for a $45 million project that will add 153 apartments in downtown Wauwatosa.
Three Leaf Partners takes a different route than typical developers; they put a strong focus on creating projects that are sustainable and have a positive impact on the community.
