Nagpur woman on vacation goes missing from LoC village in Kargil, leaves her son behind

A 36-year-old woman from Nagpur has mysteriously disappeared from Hunderban village, the last village near the Line of Control in Kargil, Ladakh. She arrived in Kargil with her 15-year-old son on May 9th, and was last seen on May 14th. Police are conducting a search operation and have contacted her relatives.

PUNE: A 36-year-old woman from Nagpur went missing from the last village of Kargil district in Ladakh region under mysterious circumstances on May 14.Kargil's additional superintendent of police Nitin Yadav told TOI, "The woman came to Kargil and checked into a hotel on May 9 along with her 15-year-old son. On May 14, she left her son at the hotel and went to Hunderban village, which is the last village near the Line of Control in Kargil.But she has not returned from there."The incident came to light when the hotel's staff did not see the woman at night, said police. "When we came to know, our team went to the hotel and questioned the son, who told us that they were touring different places over the last few days. They visited some places in Punjab before arriving in Kargil," said Yadav.The additional SP said, "We have formed a special search team to trace the lady. So far, we have not got a clue. But what is worrisome for us is that she is missing from the last village near LOC. Our search operation is on."The Kargil police are in contact with the woman's relatives and have got basic information about her from them. "We got to know from her relatives that she got divorced from her husband about a decade ago. In the past, she worked as a nurse in private hospitals in Mumbai and Nagpur.
Also, she worked as a tailor for a few years. Now that business is handled by her two sisters," Yadav added.The officer said that officials from the women and child welfare committee arrived in Kargil to take custody of the son as per the rules. "They will hand him over to his relatives after completing statutory procedures over the next few days. The child is in trauma at present, so we couldn't question him more. He is fine and presently with us," added Yadav.
